What is ECI?

Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) is a statewide program to help children ages birth to three years with disabilities or delays.  ECI suports physicians in helping families help their children reach their potential through developmental services.  ECI services are provided in the child's natural environment such as the home or day care at no cost to the family, regardless of income.

What is ECI Child Find?

ECI Child Find is a referral line the medical community can use for the El Paso and Hudspeth County ECI programs.  Call (915)534-4ECI (4324) for more information, or fax your referral to (915)496-0750.  ECI Child Find will forward the referral to the appropriate ECI office based on the family's zip code.

Why Refer?

Because brain development occurs most rapidly from birth to three years old, identifying children with problems early helps minimize or prevent future problems.  As a medical professional, your responsibility under federal regulation (34CFR, Sec. 303.321) and state regulation (25TAC, Sec. 621.45) is to refer a child to ECI within two working days of identification of a suspected delay.
